About Lakeshore Canine
Lakeshore Canine was founded with the goal of providing clear, structured, and honest dog training for everyday owners. We believe effective training comes from clarity in communication, consistency, and a balanced approach — not dominance, and not being overly permissive.
Every dog is different, and every household comes with unique challenges. Rather than rushing the process or relying on cookie-cutter programs, Lakeshore Canine focuses on thoughtful, individualized training that helps dogs understand how to operate confidently in the real world.
Our services are designed for pet owners who want practical results, clear guidance, and long-term success. Training doesn’t stop when a session ends — owner education and follow-through are a critical part of what we do.
Our Board & Train program is run directly out of our home, allowing dogs to live in a structured, real-life environment rather than a kennel setting. This ensures consistency, individualized care, and training that translates directly into everyday situations.
Meet Blair
My journey into dog training began in 2018 when I got my first dog. In 2019, after discovering protection sports, I brought home my Belgian Malinois, Zira — a turning point that solidified my passion for dogs and training.
I went on to work as a dog trainer in Ottawa, where I gained hands-on experience working with both high-drive working dogs and pet dogs. During this time, I developed a strong foundation in obedience, behavior challenges, and the real-world issues faced by everyday dog owners.
Several years later, I continued my education and hands-on training experience in the United States, where I worked with a wide range of dogs across different environments and training styles. This further expanded my ability to adapt training methods to the individual dog — whether working with sport dogs or family pets — rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
I have over seven years of experience training dogs and have competed nationally with Zira, earning PSA 1 Vice National Champion at PSA Nationals in 2022. I am also a PSA Certified Decoy. My experience in protection sports has shaped my standards, discipline, and attention to detail — qualities I bring into every training program, regardless of the dog or goal.
My approach to training is calm, direct, and detail-oriented. I don’t believe in quick fixes, guarantees, training without owner involvement, heavily compulsive methods, or purely positive approaches on their own. I believe a balanced approach is the most effective way to build clarity, reliability, and trust between dogs and their owners.
Education never stops in this field. I am committed to continuing to learn from trainers around the world rather than settling with the knowledge I currently have. Every dog is different, and effective training means meeting each dog — and owner — where they are.
Our Team & Dogs
Lakeshore Canine operates out of a structured home environment that prioritizes consistency, clarity, and daily routines. My partner, Sarah, is actively involved in our training environment and is continuing to develop her skills alongside me.
Sarah trains and competes in PSA and is currently working toward her PSA Level 1 title with her dog, Rey, who is the sister of my dog, Zira. Her involvement in dog sports and training plays an important role in the structure and consistency of our household and training routines.
While I oversee all training programs and client plans, Sarah is actively learning and developing her skills in pet dog training and will be increasingly involved in training support as her education progresses.
We share our home with Zira and Rey, and dogs are an integral part of our daily lives. This home-based environment allows Board & Train dogs to live within real-world routines rather than a kennel setting, helping training translate more naturally into everyday life.
